Having a huge missile salvo from your corvettes gives you high first-strike potential.They are great harassers but generally speaking, don’t do that much damage. It doesn’t matter if you lose a few because you can quickly replace them. Think of corvettes as an expandable screen. Their sole purpose is to tie the enemy up and distract attention away from your bigger, more valuable ships. It's a shame since on paper the fleet manager is one of the Cherryh changes that looked good to me.Corvettes are quick, cheap to build, and smaller but have high evasion. I find this super annoying, and I'm sure it can't be how it's supposed to work. The ships that give me headaches are usually from the first generation of their weight class, and as such likely to have been auto-designed. I can't figure out the rhyme or reason, though I *think* it might be connected to the auto-designer. Even this seems to leave out some older ships. The best solution I have is to go into the ship designer, rename the new model, and open the fleet manager and retrofit to the renamed version. Meanwhile the old 20 sit there being obsolete. If I add 4 of the new design (same name) it will show 4/24. But if I had say 20 corvettes of the old model, it will say 0/20 and no longer give me the little arrow to upgrade. The fleet manager will have the new model listed.

One consistent problem I have is that at some point it will just stop letting me upgrade my ships. By maxing out the number of hyperlanes I managed to reduce that annoyance, but I really don't care for the fleet manager. So I'm giving Stellaris another chance (I was one of those so put off by the Cherryh changes I dropped the game entirely).
